Marguerite McMullan Gorman, age 99 of Corsicana "left us" to join her Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Marguerite was born Nov. 27, 1917 to AD (Dave) and Carrie McCord McMullan of Tupelo. Marguerite married Stanley F. Gorman, June 6, 1937. Together they raised their family of one son and three daughters. Marguerite will always be remembered for her love of caring for others. She loved the Lord and she loved her family. She made sure her family was well cared for always. She not only sewed most of the clothes for her three daughters, as they were growing up but also their wedding dresses. She loved cooking and baking for others. Her hospitality was enjoyed by all who entered.
Nieces, nephews and grandchildren continue to recount the wonderful experiences with their Aunt Marguerite (Grandmother) and Uncle Stanley (Granddaddy.) She created many beautiful special occasion cakes for friends and family and made sure they were safely delivered as far away as Little Rock, Arkansas. Tea cakes and angel food cakes were love gifts to countless family members and friends for many years. She enjoyed crocheting not only as a pass time but as a source of gifts for others. In her 80s she rekindled her artistic talents by joining oil painting classes. Marguerite was a faithful member of North Beaton Church of Christ. Going to church and Bible study was an important part of her life. Even into her 90s she made sure her friends were also able to attend by giving them a ride.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Gorman; parents, Dave and Carrie McMullan; half sister, Adalyn McMullan Wood; three brothers, Randal, AD and Tom McMullan; sister Catherine (Kitty) Norwood; daughter-in-law Nell Sloan Gorman and son-in-law, Phil Woehleke.
