Margie's Story

Text size

Mrs. Margie Hunnicutt Parsons, 86, of Barry passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 at Trisun Care Center in Corsicana. She was born on February 28, 1931 in Kaufman County, Texas to Byron Hugh and Oma Wright (Chambers) Horton.
She was an adventurous woman, a loving wife, a loyal friend, a devoted mother, and an adoring grandmother. She loved to laugh and "cut up", to read, to play Canasta, to drink coffee, and to eat fried fish. She was a homemaker and an "almost famous" cook, known for her teacakes and red beans. She spent over forty of her eighty-six years on a small ranch she and Daniel purchased in 1972, where she found joy in gardening, canning, farming, and raising animals, including cattle, horses, goats, llamas, rabbits, dogs, cats, emus, chickens, guineas, ducks, dove, and even a peacock. She never met an animal she didn't like. She took on challenges with vigor and determination. She lived and loved fiercely. We will celebrate a wonderful life and a vivacious personality.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Barney Hunnicutt and Daniel Parsons; son, Randy Hunnicutt; parents, Hugh and Oma Horton; sister, Carolyn Taylor and a brother, Calton Horton.
She is survived by her grandson, Chad Hunnicutt and fiancé Jacqueline of Barry; granddaughter, Christin Phillips and husband Jacob of Tomball; great grandsons, Evan Hunnicutt of Barry, Eli Hagmeier of Barry and Hunter Phillips of Tomball; great granddaughter, Peyton Phillips of Tomball; brothers, Bill Horton, Sr. and wife Gayle of Oak Valley and Phillip Horton and wife Kaye of Goldwaithe; sister, Lottie Klutts of Grapevine; sister-in-law, Margaret Parsons of Corsicana; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Butch Horton, Mike Klutts, Jimmy Taylor, Tommy Oliphant, John Evans, and Doug Whitten. Honorary Pallbearers are George Klutts and Thomas Horton.
