Loyd Eldridge Smith, 82, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016. He was born April 20, 1934 in Mertens to Tom Smith and Bonnie Brummett Smith. He was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church, loved playing 42 and was an avid Cowboys and Rangers fan.
He retired from the US Air Force in 1973 after 20 years of service. He then went on to driving for Transport Trucking in Texaco, New Mexico until 1986, and then worked for Colorado Bell Food Beverage as a supervisor in Laughlin, Nevada till 1996.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy Winston Smith, Thoman Glen Smith and Jack Arnold Smith and one sister, Betty Marie Dunn.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Smith of Corsicana; four children, Truitt Smith and wife Linda of Anchorage, Alaska, Shawn Smith of Farwell, Julia Costin of Corsicana and James Costin and Virginia of Hobbs, New Mexico; siblings, Jerry Smith of Corsicana, Paula Hartley and husband James of Corsicana, Wanda Hartley of Corsicana and Sue Hawthorne of Corsicana; six grandchildren, Justin Smith of Clovis, New Mexico, Melinda Smith of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Lindsay Webb of Clovis, New Mexico, Sarah Astorga of Hobbs, New Mexico, Elizabeth Binion of Corsicana and Kendal Vega of Clovis, New Mexico. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2016 at St. Luke's Methodist Church with Rev. John Nader officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Ricketts, Jerry Smith Jr., Jeff Brown, Greg Dickey, Cody Dickey and Michael Binion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Veteran's Program or St. Luke's Methodist Church.
