Linda Jean Meredith was called home to the Lord on Sept. 27, 2016.
Beloved wife of Dale D. Meredith; dear mother to daughters Sarah E. Meredith and Laura (Brian) Geiger, and son Timothy J. (Sophie) Neal; doting grandmother to Abigail, Augustus and Isaac Geiger and Emily Neal.
Jean, of Corsicana, and Dale, of Odin, Illinois made their home in Amherst, New York, where he is emeritus professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo and pastor of University Baptist Church of Getzville, New York.
She graduated from Mildred High School, Sam Huston State University, and Iowa State University. Jean was vital to the University Baptist Church of Getzville, New York, and its ministries where she was a founding member. Her devotion to the Christmas and Easter plays and Vacation Bible School over the past 28 years was well known, and those special activities touched the lives of hundreds of children.
In addition, Jean spent countless hours helping international students as Baptist Campus Minister at University of Buffalo, as well as helping refugee families that came to Buffalo. She welcomed everyone into her home and her life, and her greatest honor was to be known as "Grandma Jean" to all those whose lives she had touched.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Enos and Opal Hutson.
She is survived by brothers David (Virginia) and Earle (Amy), a sister Susan (John) Bell, nieces, nephews, and many friends around the world.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Jean's life at Mildred Baptist Church, 5502 S Hwy 287, Corsicana, TX, Saturday, November 12 at 11am with lunch and visiting time immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University Baptist Church, 790 Dodge Road, Getzville, NY 14068 for Grandma Jean Scholarship fund for refugees.
