He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Margaret, and his children Joyce Hayes, Curtis and wife Millie McClure, Gloria Kent and husband Dan, and Wayne and wife Jada McClure; 11 grandchildren, Josh, Kristi, Jenni, Katie, Heather, George, Carrie, Mataw, Linsey, Taylor, and Casey, and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Kelsey Hitt.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Stevie and Bill Hitt, sisters, Mary Helen Hitt and Ann Egeler, and son-in-law Kenneth Hayes.
After high school he served in the Army National Guard. He retired from Wonder Bread after 33 years. He then worked at K-Mart until it closed. He was a member of Kerens First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and working on the ranch with his son Wayne.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh Jamison, Mataw Kent, George McClure, Todd Teetz, Kyler Dalrymple, and nephew Gary Berry. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie McNeese and Jimmy Kelley.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 at Paschal Funeral Home and the funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24,2018 officiated by Rev. Michael Redmond. Burial will follow in the Prairie Point Cemetery.
