Joan Douglas Bowling, 91, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017. A native Texan, she was born Dec. 13, 1925 to Robert Emmett and Leila Hart Douglas in Corsicana.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Col (USAF) Temple Bowling. Mrs. Bowling is survived by her brother, Robert Emmett Douglas Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Marietta, Georgia; son Temple Bowling IV and his wife, Janice, of Tullahoma, Tennessee; daughter, Melissa Bowling Tubbs of Montgomery, Alabama; son, Stephen Douglas Bowling and his wife, Shirley, of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Laura Bowling Steiner and her husband, John, of Montgomery, Alabama; six grandchildren, Temple Bowling V and his wife, Kimberly, of Berry, Alabama; Elizabeth Hart Bowling of Tullahoma, Tennessee; Jonathan Clark Bowling and his wife, Jackie, of Knoxville, Tennessee; Lisa Turner Dobbs and her husband, Kenny, of Millbrook, Alabama; Stevie Bowling Little and her husband, Garrett, of Alpharetta, Georgia; Liza Jane Bowling of Huntsville, Alabama; nine great grandchildren, Temple Bowling VI, Walter Chandler Bowling, and Tyner Elizabeth Bowling all of Berry, Alabama; Sarah Katharine Turner and Charles Davis Turner of Millbrook, Alabama; Anna Katherine Bowling, Jonathan Clark Bowling II, Elizabeth Elaine Bowling, and Benjamin Temple Bowling all of Knoxville, Tennessee and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral services were held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in Montgomery, Alabama with internment at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery. The Rev. Claude McRoberts, Trinity Presbyterian Church (PCA) officiated and Southern Memorial Funeral Home directed.
