The Gates of Heaven opened for James Michael Phillips Sr. on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016 at 6 a.m. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born to the parentage of Mr. Joseph Phillips and Mable Steffens on Jan. 17,1942 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
At an early age James served his country by joining the Marine Corps. He served a tour in Vietnam and also was stationed in D.C. as a member of the Military Police.
He is survived by his spouse Carol Phillips, they joined in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony for 48 years. James, a devout Catholic, was also a member of the Knights of Columbus he was a third degree Knight.
He is also survived by his sons, James M. Phillips Jr. and wife Martha and their sons Andrew, Thomas and Jordan, and Eric Phillips and wife Jamie and their sons Wyatt and Morgen.
He is also survived by siblings Gloria Fonder, Jacquelyne wife of Milton Phillips, Shirley Phillips, Judith Nowak, husband Anthony,
Janet wife of Thomas Phillips, Gary Phillips, wife Lynn, Barbra wife of Kenneth Phillips, Linda Rentmeester, husband Eric, Maxine wife of William Phillips.
Jim is preceded in death by siblings Kenneth, the husband of sister Gloria Fonder, Milton Phillips the husband of Jacquelyne, Michael Phillips and wife Linda, Thomas Phillips, Kenneth Phillips, William Phillips, Steven Phillips, Joseph Phillips, Wayne Phillips.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (3000 W. Hwy. 22, Corsicana, Tx 75110). Rosary will be prayed at 7:45 p.m.
Mass for Christian burial will be Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Internment Services will follow at Calvary Hill Catholic Cemetery.
