James Earl McMillen, 92, of Longview passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 in Buckner Westminster Assisted Living. James was born June 15, 1924 in Emhouse to Lee Roy and Minnie Jewel (Merideth) McMillen.
James was raised in Emhouse and upon graduating from Emhouse High School he joined the US Marine Corps during World War II serving in the South Pacific. He was very proud of being a Marine. Upon returning from service in the South Pacific, he married his wife Helen Griffin. He worked as vice president of finance for Oil City Iron Works in Corsicana Texas until his retirement.
James is preceded in death by both parents.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years Helen Griffin McMillen; son, Danny and wife Patsy McMillen of Georgetown; daughter, Diane and husband Ron Garner of Longview; grandchildren Ryan Garner, Mary Catherine McMillen, Valori and Jason Moore, Danielle McMillen, Katie and Matthew Blake and one great grandchild, Lydia Blake.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steven Bell and Tom Robbins officiating. Interment will follow in the Pattison Cemetery, Emhouse, TX.
