Mr. James "Jim" Arthur Kuhlmann, 85, of Corsicana passed away at his home Friday, Feb. 24, 2017. He was born in Smackover, Arkansas to Leighton Vane and Lucille Muckelrath Kuhlmann, Sept. 1, 1931. He gave his heart to Jesus when he was a young man and graduated from Pearl River Junior College in his early 20's. He continued his education at the University of Houston earning his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
Jim, as known by his friends, worked for Getty Oil Company for many years, spending eight years in Kuwait. While working in the Mid-east, he and his wife, Joyce, visited countries throughout the Mid-east and Europe. Jim retired at age 55, and together, he and Joyce, her sister and brother-in-law, Carol Ann and John Borden, toured the National Parks throughout the United States. They enjoyed visiting family and friends from Michigan, the Deep South all the way to California.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, and his brothers, Reginald Douglas Kuhlmann, Melvin Donald Kuhlmann and Preston Lee Kuhlmann.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce Jean Whisenant Kuhlmann; his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and John Powell; his son James Douglas Kuhlmann; his son and daughter-in-law, Donald Wayne and Sue Kuhlmann; his nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; his brother and sister-in- law, Kenneth Kerry and Myra Kuhlmann; his sister, Eulema Lucille Kuhlmann and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27 at the First Baptist Church in Montgomery, Louisiana. Services followed at 1 p.m. with Pastor Danny Keys officiating.
Interment was held at the Montgomery Cemetery, on Old River Road under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
Pallbearers were Jared Kuhlmann, Stephen Borden, Johnny Borden, Vane Kuhlmann, Sammy Bass and Kade Kuhlmann. Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Kuhlmann and Jalen Kuhlmann.
In lieu of flowers, James asked for donations to be made to the Shriners Hospital for children, internet web address is shrinerhospital.org or Saint Jude Childrens Hospital at StJude.org.
