James W. "Jimmy" Carrigan, 76, of Corsicana passed away suddenly Thursday, April 13, 2017 at "The Family Farm" outside of Conroe, Texas. He was born July 13, 1940 in Athens to the late Leb "Harry" and Margaret (Wade) Carrigan. He was a Vietnam veteran in the U.S. Army Engineer Division. Among the many medals he received he was extremely proud of his expert marksman award with the M-14.
Jimmy was a member of the Masonic Lodge #174. He attended Rice and Corsicana schools. Some of his favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing with "Cuz" Charles on many Texas lakes and riding his Harley cycle. However his very favorite thing was to be Papa to his two grandsons. He loved to go to all their sporting events.
He retired from Chattanooga Glass and Pactiv in Corsicana.
He is survived by his wife of 48 1/2 years, Dorothy (Ivy) Carrigan; son, Kyle Carrigan and wife Cindy of Mildred; sister, Hilda Carrigan of Corinth, Texas; two grandsons, Austin and Bryan Carrigan of Mildred; brother-in-law, Hollis "Buddy" Ivy and wife Amelia of Porter, Texas along with numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Graveside Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
