Ira Richards, II, 88, of Corsicana passed away on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 in Corsicana. He was born on May 20, 1928 in Nutter Fort, West Virginia to Ira Almer and Lenora May Hooper Richards.
He graduated from East High School in Akron, Ohio in 1945.
He managed the F.W. Woolworth Company stores for 43 years. During those 43 years of employment, he worked in the states of California, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico and Texas. He retired from there in 1996. After he retired he enjoyed golf, traveling, family time, watching westerns, fixing things, telling stories and jokes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ira (Richie) Richards, III.
Ira is survived by his wife of 66 years, Myrtle Ruth Barlet Richards; daughters, Shirley Richards Dilse and husband Jim and Kathy Richards Stevens and husband John; grandchildren, Michelle Thompson and husband Mike, Melissa Dilse, Zachary Dilse, David Stevens and wife Lauren and John Dallas Stevens; great grandchildren, Shelby and Mike, Dalton and Graydon; great-great grandchildren, Colton and Victor; sisters, Mildred Mecham and Sandra Mitchell and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Danny P. Reeves officiating.
The family of Ira would like to extend their appreciation for the loving care that the nurses of Mercy Hospice and the staff of Country Meadow's Health and Rehab Center provided for him.
