Hugh V. Fullerton, Jr. of Corsicana passed away Sunday, Jan. 8 at the age of 88. He was born June 19, 1928 to Hugh V., Sr., and Willie Mae Fullerton.
He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Sanctuary Choir. He served on the Corsicana ISD School Board for eight years. He also served on the Board of First National Bank and its successors. Hugh was a member of the National Regional Board of Affiliated Food Stores and was the owner of Fullerton Grocery in Corsicana for 46 years.
Over the course of 50 years, Hugh built a herd of red Angus cattle that continues to be in operation today. Its success and longevity are due to his stewardship of the land and his love for raising cattle. He was an advocate and supporter of the Commercial Heifer Division of the Navarro County Youth Expo.
Hugh possessed a kind and compassionate way that made him loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joann Fullerton and son Bill Fullerton.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Caroline; daughter, Ann Boling; step-daughter, Bobbette and husband Elbert Butler of Frost; grandchildren, Will Fullerton and wife Christian of Austin, Clayton Fullerton of Austin, Brett Caroline and husband Randal Schmidt of Ennis; great grandsons, William Rowell Fullerton and James Schmidt and soon to be great-granddaughter, Emilia Schmidt.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services are set to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Scott officiating and Dr. Danny Reeves assisting. Graveside Services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with Dr. Carey Ford officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Will and Clayton Fullerton, Elbert Butler, Preston Hall, Eugene (Sonny) Teague and Desi Castillo.
Memorials may be made to the Navarro County Youth Expo, Commercial Heifer Division or Good News Cafe Ministry of First Baptist Church, Corsicana.
