She was a daughter of a fruit picker who traveled the United States working crops. They left California bound for Texas, where she was born on the way. She lived in San Antonio and Austin in her younger years.
At age 14, her mother became ill and she began to care for her younger brother and two sisters. At age 21, on Christmas Eve of 1962, she went on a blind date with Charles R. Reynolds. They were married eight months later at the home of Charles' mother in Austin on Aug. 23, 1963. They have been happily married for 53 years. (Bless her heart.)
Throughout her life, God and the church became increasingly more important to her the older she got. She was a member of Mildred Baptist Church for over 30 years. She worked as a Realtor in Corsicana for many years and later retired from the Navarro County Tax Office on Dec. 31, 2003.
In September 2004, she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Throughout her battle, she became very involved with the Ovarian Cancer Survivor Group of Baylor Hospital, Relay For Life of Navarro County for 10 years, and Camp Make a Dream in Montana, where she touched many lives with her living testimony through her faith in Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Mary Alice Overton; as well as her son who passed away at birth, Gary Lee Reynolds.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Reynolds; son, Scott Reynolds; daughters, Lori Hickey and husband Matt, and Kristy Smallwood and husband James; grandchildren, Cole Reynolds, Jordan Hickey, Jason Hickey, Weston Smallwood, and Tyler Smallwood.
