Donna's Story

Text size

Donna Kathleen Everett Ingham of Corsicana went home to be with the Lord after fighting a five-year battle with a long and difficult illness on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018.
Donna was the daughter of Dick and Maxine Everett of Corsicana who preceded her in death and the sister of Sandra Lewis of Corsicana who survives her.
Donna married Jon Ed Ingham of Corsicana on July 31, 1965 and had two children, Aimee Lea and Jon Richard. She is also survived by her husband, children and their spouses, David Kasprzyk and Candice Watts Ingham as well as six grandchildren, Sarah and Anna Kasprzyk, Carter Wells, Isaac, Noah and Benjamin Ingham.
Donna was a 1961 alumnus of Corsicana High School where she was coronation queen and drum major, and a 1963 alumnus of Navarro College. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Corsicana for almost 50 years serving in many capacities there, but most notably in the alto section of the FBC Sanctuary Choir. She enjoyed being a part of many groups and organizations in Corsicana, including Thalian Book Club, the Garden Club of Corsicana, and volunteering at the Corsicana Welcome Center. She enjoyed the fellowship she experienced at community bible study and Kinsloe House where she served on the board. She proudly served as Regent of the James Blair chapter of the DAR. One of her greatest loves in recent years has been her membership and participation in the Art League of Corsicana, where she helped develop an active arts presence in Corsicana and grew her talent in oil painting. Many people in and out of Corsicana have her artwork in their homes and places of business, which was a source of pride for this extremely gracious and humble lady. One of the things she was best known and beloved for was her work in Corsicana ISD. Beginning with the Adult Basic Education Program in the 1970's she met and touched the lives of many students, staff and faculty in her years there. As assistant librarian at Corsicana High School her sweet and positive spirit helped countless people on a daily basis, encouraging and influencing them in her quiet and unassuming way. She closed her educational career by serving as librarian at both the Corsicana and Mart TYC units.
Donna and Jon Ed were married for 52 years and were together for nearly 60 years, which is a tribute to their love for each other and for those around them. Together they traveled the world, built a dream house from ground up, and developed Pink Sign Estate Sale, as well as many other creative and altruistic pursuits. Her humble, gracious spirit as well as her beautiful smile and quiet positivity were attributes people will remember her fondly for. However, it was her sheer strength and courage in the face of some terrible and debilitating diseases at the end of her life that will continue to inspire others.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Corsicana. Burial will follow at Hamilton - Beeman Cemetery.
