Mrs. Carolyn Sue Bancroft, 77, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield. She was born on Sept. 30, 1940 in Corsicana to Earnest and Carol Hedge Slate. She attended Corsicana High School and graduated in 1958. She worked for Gibson's Pharmacy until it closed, and then worked as a teacher's aide for Mildred ISD, and retired after many years of service. She was a longtime member of Mildred Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Bancroft, Jr.; her parents and a sister, Ruth Slate.
She is survived by her son, Barry Bancroft and wife Andrea of Mildred; daughter, Lisa Broome and husband Lonnie of Corsicana; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Norma Fielding and husband Foster of Forney and Kay Rogers of Palestine; brother-in-law, Rodney Bancroft and wife Alice of Mildred and Charles Bancroft and wife Sherry of Roane and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at Corley Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at Eureka Cemetery with Dr. Rick Lamb officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mildred ISD Education Foundation, 5475 S. Hwy 287, Corsicana, Texas 75109.
