C.B.'s Story

C.B. (Joe) Sims of Corsicana died peacefully Jan. 24, 2018 at Twilight Home. He was born Jan. 11, 1921 to William Wesley Sims and Florence Barnett Sims in Bazette. He served proudly in the Air Force from 1942 to 1945 in New Guinea, Okinawa, and the Philippines and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. For 67 years he was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 63 and was an ordained deacon and elder of the Kerens Presbyterian Church. He was a retired salesman for Ben E. Keith Company of Fort Worth, and in his retirement, he enjoyed fishing area lakes with his Great Dane, Jazz. He will be lovingly remembered as a gentleman with a ready smile and great sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his six siblings Willie May Noble, Henry D. (Bud) Sims, Gracie Tramel, Everett M. (Speck) Sims, Della Goodwin, and Sybil Robertson.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Billie Teetz Sims whom he married June 12, 194; four children, Kathy Collier (Gary) of Corsicana, David Sims of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Lisa Curington of Lufkin, and Eric Sims of Rosenberg. In addition, he is survived by five grandchildren, Joshua Collier of Chicago, Lindsey Betsill (John) of Arlington, and Cain, Sawyer, and Stone Sims of Rosenberg. He is also survived by great grandson, Henry Betsill, and several nieces and nephews.
A service of thanksgiving and witness to the resurrection will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 at the Kerens Presbyterian Church. Visitation with the family will be held following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Kerens Presbyterian Church, 301 SW 3rd Street, Kerens, Texas 75144 or the Kerens Veterans Memorial, PO Box 71, Kerens, Texas 75144.
With heartfelt gratitude, the family thanks all the staff of Twilight Home and Hand to Hand Hospice for the compassion and loving care shown their husband and father during the last couple of months.
