Text size

Beverly Ann Smith, born Jan. 20, 1943 in Corcoran, California as Beverly Ann Rockett, she was called to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016. The town of Rockett in Ellis County, was named after Beverly's great grandfather.
As a child of a military father, Beverly traveled and lived in various places. She came to Corsicana as a teenager and met Johnny Smith and married at 16. Beverly and Johnny lived in Corsicana for the first few years of their marriage until Johnny got a job at The Dallas Morning News. They made Dallas their home until 1985.
From 1985 to 2016, they returned back to Corsicana and made it their retirement home. They were married for 56 years.
Beverly thoroughly enjoyed cooking and had a deep passion for china painting and arts and crafts. People that knew Beverly knew she could paint or make anything. She was also an excellent Sunday School Teacher and Substitute Teacher with Lancaster ISD.
She could grow anything from a glorious Snowball bush to an Apricot tree as she had a deep passion for gardening. Her yard was always immaculate. Before Beverly became bed-bound, she swam daily at the Corsicana YMCA.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Mac and Alice Rockett and her husband Johnny Mac Smith.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Smith of Irving and
Matthew Smith of Corsicana.
