Bettye's Story

Bettye Lou Williams passed away on January 24, 2018 at the St. David's South Austin Medical Center. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on July 30, 1947 to Lou and Dana Williams who resided in Tenaha, Texas.

She was a mother, a grandmother and a beloved aunt. She loved traveling, gardening, bird watching and spending time with her rescue dog Max. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren
.
Bettye attended public schools in Gladewater, Corsicana and Corpus Christi, graduating from Ray High School in 1965. She enjoyed getting together with her Ray girls nearly every summer in Fredericksburg.
She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1969. She spent many years teaching mostly math in Round Rock, Austin and Pflugerville.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by daughter Amy Horowitz and husband Bill Moore of Dripping Springs; son Daniel Horowitz and wife Kimberly of Houston; grandchildren Lily Moore, William and Caroline Horowitz; sister Mary Ann Baker-Holmes and husband John of Denver, Colorado; sister Donna Ralston and husband Dave of Corsicana, Texas; nephews Scott Baker, Tracy Ralston and Brett Baker; and nieces Jennifer Baker and Rebecca Ralston Cain.

There will be an opportunity to visit with family at 1:00 pm before the Memorial Service that will begin at 2:00 pm on February 2, 2018 at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 3125 N. Lamar in Austin, Texas.
