Beth Byrnes, 88, passed away in Corsicana on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017. Beth was born in Bridgeport on Sept. 1, 1928 to Roy and Lora Poore. She graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1946, and then attended Texas Women's University.
Beth married Robert Edward Byrnes on Aug. 29, 1948. Work initially took Beth and Robert to various cities in Texas, they eventually settled in Abilene to raise their children. Beth was a wonderful stay-at-home mom and was very involved in all the kids' activities.
She and Robert would later move to Corsicana where she worked in administrative positions for Corsicana Federal Savings and Loan, the Navarro County Board of Realtors and Century 21 Real Estate.
Beth was adventure-bound in all aspects of her life. She loved to garden, cook, repair antique furniture, paint, read, and especially to travel. Her travels took her to many states and countries, including Colorado, Utah, Vermont, England, France, Germany, Italy, Costa Rica and Jamaica. She also loved and babied her pets and all her unofficial grandchildren who also called her "Grandma." Beth was truly a memory-maker and made life fun.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Byrnes; son Mark Byrnes; son-in-law Eddie York; sister Cleo Boulware and her husband J.B.; and nephew John Boulware.
She is survived by two daughters Vicki Byrnes and Kay York; two grandchildren Trace Byrnes and his wife Tammy, and Chris St. Clair; four great grandchildren Morgan, Aeron, Joshua and Justyn; nephew Larry Boulware, his daughter, Mary Ann; niece Paula Brussow, her husband Jerry and their children; Doris Boulware, spouse of her nephew, John Boulware, and their children.
Beth exemplified the best a person could be. All who knew her loved her to the moon and back. She will be greatly missed.
Beth was cremated. At her request, her family will celebrate her life this summer at a memorial gathering in Durango, Colorado.
